There's a whimsical, loose feel to this collection, with every book
going in its own direction. Included are three of the "Solo" one-
issue mini-series, focusing on one of the Turtles. Two of the books
have a central Christmas setting, Jack Kirby and Cerebus the Aardvark
appear, and there are dreams, time travel etc. The bigger plot does
move on, however, with Shredder and Casey Jones reappearing, and the
whole crew moving up from New York City up to North Hampton,
Massachusetts. Eastman and Laird involved more artists to meet the
deadlines, and Steve Bissette, Michael Dooney and more give the
artwork a slicker appearance.
The book I read is a recent reprint (January 2025) produced on
glossy white paper, which detracts a bit from the overall
impression. I preferred the matter and less bleached paper of the
older printings (my copy of #1 is from October 2018). The visual
problems from the previous collection are still present, with low
resolution scans being sourced -- giving a jagged, unfocused result.
