Not much to talk about today! Work was, again, largely
uneventful. The mail is still running behind on account of the
holidays, so my parts for the Digital Mavica still haven't
arrived. I have some files I want to upload to my library listing
here, but I'm trying to find the documentation for them first,
and I've got a bunch of machines and a bunch of disks to dig
through to find it.
One of my coworkers is supposed to be bringing me some old
computers to dispose of tomorrow for his family - he didn't know
much about it, other than it was "a black Dell and a beige Dell
with one of those old TV - looking monitors" so I'm just
expecting an early 2000s-model Dimension tower which I might be
able to salvage a couple disc drives and *maybe* a video card
from, but the beige one might be interesting. There's no chance
of it but when he mentioned a beige Dell monitor I haven't been
able to shake the idea of it maybe being one of those rebadged
Trinitrons they used to sell as their high-end CRT option, haha.
You never know I guess - when I used to deal in used games I'd
sometimes come across some real gems you wouldn't think would
exist in a podunk little part of the country like this. It's kind
of like gambling, in a sense - despite knowing the odds of a good
payout are low, the thrill of the hunt and the feeling when you
do get lucky are almost better than the payoff itself - almost.
