ANCIENT MALADIES

I once wrote about [

[archpaladin.net] a site that cataloged thieves' cant - the slang used by
thieves around the middle ages.
Well apparently there is a similar online reference [
http://www.antiquusmorbus.com/ ] [antiquusmorbus.com] describing various
old disease names and causes of death. The ranges of history the site
maintainer is interested in starts at the 19th century and goes back from
there.
My wife and I once considered the feasibility making our living by
traveling from one Renaissance fair to another with a sort of traveling
exhibit - she would sell her jewelry and craftwork and I could have an
exhibit on medieval medical techniques. (An acupuncturist's scope of
practice covers a number of adjunct modalities that look, with a little
theatrical flourish, like they came from the Renaissance.) If we ever
happened to do such a thing - even in one location, much less travel from
state to state - I would definitely need to brush up on my jargon.
