Clean the gutters, such a simple task. I upset a quarter sized toad
on my way. They went their way and I continued on. Ladder work is
simple enough at 10 feet. Climb up. Clean an arm's span. Climb down.
Move the ladder. Rinse and repeat. Until I look down and see a 4.5
foot Rat Snake making its way along the foundation. Of course I have
to show it to my SO who loves reptiles of all stripes. Once shown and
admired as a majestic creature I took it to the first tree line in the
back yard. It made its way away as quickly as it could, I returned to
cleaning the gutters.
Finally done, mud splattered, then showered, I make my way to the
kitchen. Sitting on the porch railing in all the regal pomp it could
summon an immature Red Tail hawk swivels its head. Again I call out
to B, my SO, to come and see. Slowly I move to the door, some 10 feet
away from the hawk, to see the tail end of Thelonius "Chip" Munk
disappearing under the edge of the porch.
I abruptly opened the door as a reminder to the hawk that they were
not actually welcome to eat at the Flying Pig Ranch & Thistle Farm.
