It all started a week ago yesterday.

Today is the first time I have been unemcumbered with home-owner woes
and responsibilities.  This morning the #HomeRepair (extraordinaire!)
Contractor made the trip out to complete the transaction, spot on his
original proposal.

A week ago yesterday I call the #Contractor.  I could see for myself
that the long term effect of a recently removed overgrown shrub (tree)
had precipitated the deterioration of the facia and gutter.  Positive
need for immediate repair.

A quick review by the #Contractor confirmed the need, which could be
addressed for a very reasonable price.  Then he mentioned the extent
of hail damage was sufficient to place a home owners (hoop) claim for
the replacement of the entire roof (hoop), not just the affected
portion.  Two for the price... Double the hoops for twice the value
and 4 times the cost(?) (Hoops!)

New roof and repairs...

but first my #Contractor points out the disparity of the Insurance's
first offer and the tallied cost of the covered portion (less of
course #DefskingDuctable _AND_ the depreciation of the existing roof.
(Hooops!) 'Oops, my mistake and my manager caught, and corrected the
tallied costs. (Hoooops!

Then there was the on-line (Hps!) payment system, requiring
(mysteriously - I am an old IT hand, yes - mysterious) (Hps!) mutiple
people to long in and jump through the on-line hoops.  To the system's
credit, when I eventually managed to check all right boxes and fill
all of the forms, for both my SO and me, the electronic transfer of
funds was timely (within two hours, or even faster, I wasn't paying
close attention).

Initially the #Contractor said Wednesday or possibly Thrusday.  He
assured me that all of the roofing and the repairs would happen in one
day.  I had time to relax.  Then he called late Monday afternoon to
say that the crew would out at 6:45 tomorrow (Tuesday, yesterday)
morning.

When I have contractors of any stripe come I try my best to be
available, observant, and out of the way...mostly.  Being able to
watch repairs up close is invaluable to me and my understanding of
this thing I call home, that I am responsible for.

Always available, often away.  I managed to clear two loads of
woodpile limbs as well as spend at least an hour and a half with their
magnetic wand sweeping for the inevitable nails and staples.  All of
that is to say I spent almost all day outside - as opposed to being
indoors (modular home) that doubles as a BIG BASS DRUM!!!  My SO made
a point of mentioning it. (Sorry dear, big hoops!)  It went on from
06:45 until 15:00, with only a half hour for lunch.

Then there was quiet.  The silence was enveloping, almost
constraining.  Yet I had not settled with the #Contractor.  I was
still beholding and responsible.  He said he would be by this
Wednesday (a week and a day) to sign off on the work and pick up the
check.  That was this morning's hoops.  Now it is complete.

Rain is scheduled for 13:00 CST.
