Last week I found out by chance, that microsoft is shutting down Skype. Nearly
all the reactions I saw online were derisive; no one's sad to see it go. Well
I still use it, beacuse I need a US telephone number that I can be reached at.
Finding another company that offers such a service has not been easy, nor are
the options inexepensive, since the Yen is still very weak against the USD.

Also, my last Apple product is an Intel iMac I bought in 2019. It was reminding
me recently to upgrade to Sequoia, but I had been holding off. Why? Well, when
upgrading an Apple product, this is my process:
1. Is this latest update available for my device to begin with?
2. If yes: what New Features are supported?

Here, the answers are: 1) Yes, and 2.) Nearly none. iPhone mirroring was touted
as a New Feature, but not having an M processor/some security chip, it doesn't
work. What's worse, the mirroring app cannot be uninstalled.

There were changes to Messages and Face time, but I use neither. Windows can be
tiled (or something) but I don't use that feature. You can now display weather
in the status bar up top, but I've used that in XFCE and Mate for a while now.
So the upgrade was pointless, really. I'll bet there were security updates, but
I don't really trust Apple in that department anymore.

This is likely the last upgrade that iMac will support, since Apple's policy is
five or six years of upgrades before it becomes an orphan. I've grown tired of
MacOS anyway, so I will be going with Ubuntu next.

Finally, I think Spring might be coming soon. The news said that cherry blossom
season is about two weeks away here. I made the mistake of walking in Ueno Park
this weekend, and there were already a lot of people out. Saturday is was cold
and dark and rainy, but today it was very sunny and much warmer.
