[ The Rainy Season

We have entered the Rainy Season here, and I saw that Typhoon #1 has already
formed. Unfortunately spring is now gone and summer is on the way. It took
quite a while for the weather to cool off last year, and so I'm not looking
forward to having to run the A/C all day each day from now on.

I have been reading eBooks again recently, and it's been a while. I returned to
them after having picked one up a few weeks ago; I was digging around in one of
the Palm Desktop CDs (I think it was for the Palm T|X) and I found a summer
sampler from the mid 2000s. When I finished it I was looking for more to read,
so I went off to Project Gutenberg, where there are thousands of books. There
is a great program called Calibre (Win/Mac/Linux/Android/iOS) which can convert
books to .pdb format, which is native to PalmOS. Along with old books I've been
going over old maps too, which I have found particularly interesting.

I have really taken a liking to golf. It has become addictive actually,
especially after visiting a driving range for the first time. It is really a
nice feeling when you hit a ball just right and it sails through the air.

My image of the sport was that of it being expensive and exclusive, but it
doesn't necessarily have to be that way. Driving ranges don't cost that much,
and there is no shortage of places selling used gear, where you can get a good
deal. I see men, women and children there at driving ranges, and there are some
public courses out there too, but I haven't looked into that yet (I've only had
two lessons so far.)

As the humidity has already passed 85%, I'm going to go turn on the A/C. *sigh*
