[ A Sunday out
I went to the Sonpo Museum of Art[1] in Shinjuku today, to see the Taisho
Imagerie exhibition[2]. It was pretty good, and the galleries were not very
crowded, despite it being a Sunday afternoon. I didn't know what to expect, but
I saw a few pieces that I really liked. Unfortunately only a few could be
photographed, but not the ones I was interested in. The giftshop did not have
postcards of the pieces I liked, either. Oh well.
Tokyo is full of museums, and there are a few exhibitions coming up that I'd
like to see. One is European Masterpieces between Renaissance and Baroque[3],
and the other is Van Gogh’s Home: The Van Gogh Museum. The Painter’s Legacy,
the Family Collection, the Ongoing Story[4].
Museums in summer are especially nice because of how cool and dark and quiet
the galleries are. Today it was nice because the heat came back, but I think
it's leaving again, as Typhoon #5 hits Tokyo tomorrow. I'm hoping for cooler
temperatures again, but no floods or storm damage.
