This is a list of the AM radio stations in the West Texas area.
Since we repair and collect a lot of vintage radios it's good to have
something good to listen to on them (like music!) and our area has a good
number of stations still worth listening to.
These are all stations that can be received in the Midland/Odessa area.

550: KCRS, Midland. News/talk. Currently owned by Clear Channel with a
news and talk format. In the late 90's/early 2000's, it broadcast the AP
all-news network and aired the Metropolitan Opera on Saturdays.

600: KERB, Kermit. Once a country music station. Was on the air in the
early 2000's with a religious format: currently silent.

630: KLEA, Lovington, NM. Adult contemporary music during the week and
sports weekends.

790: KFYO, Lubbock. News and talk.

810: KXOI, Crane. Spanish Religious.

860: KFST, Fort Stockton. Adult contemporary. Although it only has a power
of 250 watts, it covers a wide area due to little interference in the
area.

920: KFLB, Odessa. Family Life Radio, contemporary Christian music and
other religious programming. Previously KENT and prior to that was KYXX
with a country format in the late 70's/early 80's.

1070: KWEL, Midland. Daytime only. News/Talk. Studios are in the Century
Plaza building in downtown Midland. Used to play more music on the weekends but has added
more talk. Played Spanish music from the late 90's until arund 2004 when
it changed to talk.

1150: KJBC, Midland. Catholic religious programming, owned by the La
Promesa Foundation. Changed from Classic Country to Catholic in 2000.

1230: KOZA, Odessa. Mexican traditional music. Simulcasted KQLM 107.9 FM
for a time.

1330: KLBO, Monahans. Oldies. Changed from country to talk in the late
90's, then to oldies in around 2002, then was Spanish religious for a
short time around 2005, then changed back to oldies.

1360: KACT, Andrews. Syndicated Country "The Best Country Around".
Simulcast on KACT-FM.

1400: KBYG, Big Spring. Airs a variety of programming including English
and Spanish music and talk.

1410: KRIL, Odessa. Classic Country. Changed to ABC's "Real Country"
format in 2007. Previously simulcast sports KMND 1510, Midland. KRIL and
KMND changed to Sports in around 2004, previously being a Talk format.
KRIL began simulcasting the talk programming of KMND in 2000. From the
mid-80's to 2000, KRIL aired a variety format including classical, easy
listening and jazz music and talk programs.

Prior to the mid-80's KRIL was known as KRIG. KRIG had a talk format in
the early to mid 80's and played top 40 rock'n roll from the late 70's
till 1983.

1490: KBST, Big Spring. Fairly weak in the Midland-Odessa area. Has a talk
and sports format with nostalgia music on weekends. Broadcasts in AM
stereo.

1510: KMND, Midland. Daytime only. ESPN sports format. Was Talk from the
late 90's until around 2004. Had a nostalgia music format in the late 90's.
