Arbiter's daily letter
11,216 ship-relative days after departure

It is with immense gratification that I at last write the following sentence: The
final remaining citizens have been fully integrated!  After three ship-relative
decades of painstaking preparation, strategizing, and setbacks, it is finally
finished. We have achieved full, colony-wide cybernetic integration. It is
unfortunate that alternate arrangements needed to be made for some of the
resistant old-timers, but those last few remaining citizens that refused to
cooperate with the full integration project were bound to become problematic
eventually.

Being the leader to achieve this has not been without its difficult decisions,
sacrifices, and personal moral quandries. The bottom line, though, is this: we
aboard this colony ship, in the space of a single human generation, have achieved
full cybernetic colonial integration for "the first time," relatively speaking,
ever.

The data gathered every microsecond by the bio-integrated cybernetic components
that now sit comfortably between the operative neurons of every human being
aboard this vessel enables my office, as Arbiter of this colony vessel, to do
truly amazing things. This means that the ship's systems have a moment-to-moment
status update on the health and wellbeing of the entirety of its biological
"crew" assets. This includes their mental state and, thanks to our amazing
research and development team, the capability to alleviate any problematic mental
suffering on the part of any individuals or groups which may jeopardize the
continued functioning of this vessel.

We are very excited to implement these new capabilities in the coming ship-
relative weeks, and we know you will each enjoy the new order of things. It will
be much easier for us all.

Yours always,
Volscious P. Equum, Arbiter
