round bear island, ash river: homecoming
               -----------------------------------------------------------

               fought in the mosquito wars

               the first night
               made camp on an island (bear, round)
               after sundown
               one knows torment when
               the next day's light shows
               the next day's whites (smiting weapon)
               smudged with blood

               one's own.
