CHART NOTES:
We have a new number one. The band Saving Jane pushes up a point from #2 to #1 this week with
their debut single, "Girl Next Door." The track has spent several weeks on this chart, inching
a point or two at the time upward until it reached the pinnacle this week. James Blunt and
Nelly Furtado also move up within the top 5 to #2 for Blunt's "Wiseman" and #3 for Furtado's
"Promiscuous". The latter is the current Billboard #1 on the Hot 100. Last week's #1 by Jewel,
"Again and Again" slips to #4. Rounding out the top 5 is Los Lonely Boys with their latest,
"Diamonds" at #5.
The biggest gainer is newcomer Gnarls Barkley who are actually a duet consisting of record
producer "Danger Mouse" and singer/rapper "Cee-Lo." Their debut album has created quite a buzz
and is already a bonafide hit. The first single track off the album is entitled "Crazy" which
is a very radio friendly, top 40 pop track. It's listed on charts everywhere this week and
makes a big move on this chart going from #16 to #6. Wow.
The other big mover is Mary J. Blige's remake of the U2 classic "One." It's one of the best
remakes I've heard in recent months. The song which also features U2 on backup, moves from #18
to #10.
The only song that fell off the chart this week is The Raconteurs' "Steady as She Goes".
They've been replaced by the latest entry from Barenaked Ladies called "Easy". The track is
off their latest iTunes EP.
