I wrote this as a response to someone arguing for multipolarity. To my
annoyance the comment section was broken, so I'll post it here
instead.

China is not threatening to dismantle the global order, neither is
Russia. China's economic growth has come as a result of 3rule based
global trade not despite of it. Russia, crippled by economic
sanctions, is in desperate need of institutionalized global trade
regulations. It is perhaps a paradox of the liberal world order that
it did not bring liberal democracy to the east, therefore we must
distinguish between the two, global governance and liberal democracy,
and not expect a new world order to bring an end to liberal democracy
in the west.
