10 November 2025: SETTLING IN

Today I've been working on adding to my gopherspace. I've been thinking a
lot about what categories I want to include, what kind of writing, how
much or how little personal information to include, and so on. I have
decided against offering blatant identity labels here: I want this space
to be as anonymous as possible. The only "label" I have chosen to reveal
is the country I'm writing from (Scotland, UK). That seems relevant,
because it provides context for e.g. the spelling I use, which may be of
interest to anyone reading this.

Also, the likelihood is that very, very few people *will* ever read this.
And that's... honestly, quite a relief. It helps get rid of the
"spotlight" feeling I get when I post on Web 3.0 platforms (even the
small ones). There are no metrics I can track, nothing I have to
optimise, or avoid, none of it. This is just a place where I can write,
knowing that another person *might* happen across it, some day. Like
leaving a written note tucked inside a library book.

I really should visit the library.
