Alright, I'm still annoyed that I was unable to articulate my point
satisfactorily in there. Here's my concern: all the activity we see
directed at, for example, gender parity in STEM, is in the form of
classes, events, programs, and products sending a girl-power message
to girls and young women, while we see no activity being directed at
boys to foster an appreciation for diversity and gender parity.
Empowering girls is important, but telling a room full of girls
they're empowered while the boys are off enjoying the status quo and
ignoring whatever the girls are doing is not really coming at the
problem from both sides. Maybe it's happening where I can't see it,
but I don't see any effort being put into making boys want more girls
in their clubs, so to speak.
