Would fake love be better than real apathy?

If you had a machine that asked how your day was, that convicingly
seemed interested, that said encouraging and supportive things, would
you care that it was a machine?

The people of the world don't need artificial intelligence – they
need artificial love, because we're increasingly incapable of giving
and getting the real thing.
