I'm 5 miles north of the Everglades Restoration Project - the
BIGGEST example of exactly the kind of effort you're talking
about on the planet earth smile emoticon We bought here in the
swampland because it was a garbage street (everybody dumped
their garbage here - we were the first house on the block 14 yrs
ago and my brother + his family cleaned it up) and, at the time,
there *was* no Everglades Restoration Project that we knew of.
But after a couple of years here, suddenly it seemed, the "South
Golden Gate Estates" was closed, and people were being removed
using the Emmiment Domain laws, although they usually
compensated the people financially. Not all though. Some just
got their notices to go, and they left. I'm in the North Golden
Gate Estates, which isn't directly affected by the project,
although when they open up the Rivers of Grass to flow freely as
they did before they filled it in 60 years ago, we'll see what
happens.   Just remember that they affect real people as well.
Heavy-handed government reform, even for saintly purposes, isn't
always what it seems on paper. So I'm inbetween on these issues.
Environmentalism or Conservation? I have to go with: both.
