End of very involved dream I had earlier today. I had to
simulate the sound of a bowling ball rolling down an alleyway
using the squeaks of grand piano pedals in order for a song to
finish playing that was controlled by a program that expected to
hear the sound of bowling balls going down an alleyway as it was
not until somebody was bowling that the ball could drop to
signify the new year, and the ball drop happened at the end of
the song. Except it didn't merely signify the new year.* It
started it. Thankfully, this ancient bowling alley (which did
not have any bowling balls in it because it was ancient as was
the program that allowed Time to continue moving forward)
happened to have a bunch of grand pianos in it. The song stopped
playing and I realized why so I rushed over to one of the grand
pianos and started squeaking the pedals in order to simulate
balls rolling down an alleyway. Somehow, I succeeded in using
piano pedals to simulate the sound of bowling balls going down
wooden alleyways and the song SLOWLY progressed forward to allow
Time to finish its task of the old year to issue in the new one.
On a nearby piano, a lion faced man - very striking face, very
elegant, wearing a black and white tuxedo sat down and began to
help at his piano, which encouraged the song to continue faster.
Then he started to play the piano itself, doing arpeggios faster
and faster and it was gathering a crowd around him. I was
getting envious.* I knew I could beat his speed, and he was very
fast indeed. I started playing the piano, mostly arpeggios...
faster and faster, and an old red florescent digital computer
was measuring the speed as I progressed faster and faster. 550
notes per minute.* 757 notes per minute.* 840 notes per minute.
927 notes per minute. The elegant lion faced man had reached his
fastest speed as I could hear the difference in timing* and I
was going faster still, the crowd leaving the lion man and going
around to me. 978 notes per minute - and in a sudden burst, I
hit a speed I had never achieved in my lifetime - I could feel
the raw power .... and the florescent lights went blank and then
  said, "Calculating..." "Calculating..." "Calculating..." I'd
stopped moving the pedals by then.* The lion-man stopped moving
the pedals by then.* The song stopped playing.* The ball had yet
to drop.* Time was frozen in place. The New Year could not
commence. No sound could be heard. All were watching. Suddenly,
a beep. The display flashed: 1379 Gaps Found.* 23. I was
confused.* I woke up. Dreams are weird.
