I know...* I mean, sometimes it's helpful to be able to go back
  and check your own work and when you do pre-algebra/algebra-type
  stuff and beyond, you really have to know how you got what you
  got. Then again, I'd replace all the stuff beyond plus, minus,
  divide, multiply, square root, cube with programming.* Any
  language. Variables make more sense in programming.* Oh well. I
  could be wrong too :P
