sounds like an existantial moment. when I get like that, I find
  something to let myself be amazed at. Science stuff does it for
  me (I'm a geek, yeah). I'm amazed how colors are a small part of
  the electromagnetic spectrum, how sound waves smush together as
  a plane approaches Mach 1 and breaks through the sound barrier
  (great videos showing it on youtube), how too-small-to-be-seen
  particles and waves make up the matter in your fingernail, etc.
