I've just been on the Internet a long time and watched what
  "type" of things go viral.

For all that is happenstance, just as much as constructed,
  that's all.

Is it _possible_ that it's real? Sure.

That's what makes it so believable.

Is it possible that it's a prank? Sure.

But it's a lot harder to see that possibility BECAUSE it's so
  believable.

I could be wrong. I'm ok with being wrong.

Also ,practical reasons. If it's a prank, we can dismiss it.
Haha, done. If it's REALLY someone's TRUE BELIEFS... then
trouble starts, people argue, and a big mess of us vs them
  begins.

I'm ok with being wrong. But I'd rather it turn out to be a
prank, which avoids all the memes floating around, the
  "oh-those-stupid-[x]-people-are-at-it-again" stuff.

  Divisive stuff.

Plus, if I'm wrong about the guy in the video about the cup and
the Merry Christmas, which is what I'm referring to, all I have
to say is, "Man, you [individual] are a dope" rather than going
through a whole series of, "These People Are All [x]".
