Very wise bringing up the binding problem.
Here is what I believe is the source of the problem.
I believe there is assumption that these are elements used for
construction of a consciousness. In short, there is an
underlying assumption that you can take x, y, z and build it and
yet, it seems not possible, so this is considered a problem.
Yet, the problem dissolves when one is relieved of the need for
mathematizing the issue.
Consider them simultaneously as "parts of" the consciousness
already existing, rather than assuming state of no consciousness
as being valid.
Invalidate the no-consciousness that contains only parts,
validate the consciousness-as-valid first, and then all of the
parts become aspects of consciousness.
It is like constructing a car. all of the parts added together
do not make a car.
A car is something that helps you go from one place to another.
It's constituents do not make up a car. An engine is not a car.
Wheels are not a car. In fact, a car that sits in a parking lot
isn't really a car at all. It's a piece of metal on wheels with
stuff inside.
It is not a car until it is doing car-like things.
A consciousness is only a consciousness when it is doing
consciousness-like things.
It's not the parts add up to the whole.
Rather it is the whole that already exists that has parts that
can be separately considered, but are integral to the system as
a whole.
In short, systems thinking solves the issue completely.
