Even our little drawings and animations we make to help
comprehend it are all metaphorical: There's no lines and arrows.
There's no saddles with the saddle points. We're representing
n-dimensional concepts on a two dimensional illustration: flat
piece of paper... flat computer screen... and then we have to
take that and map it to our cognitive systems and SOMEHOW expand
it into "understanding". There's no points with the points
either smile emoticon Of course, even to say "2 dimensional
piece of paper" isn't correct either: It's 4 dimensional, like
all things are that we're aware of with certainty. So even
making these "2D" illustrations is a concession to the
limitations of our visual systems and our limited abilities to
represent and comprehend things. Sometimes we have to purposely
"forget" these things in order to progress, but I like reminding
myself of them frequently as it keeps me humble smile emoticon
