Pragmatism is the solution.
  Awkward solution.
  Always awkward.
For example, why do we continue hanging our grid of the Universe
on the Stars and act "as if" they are fixed? Because it's
  practical.

Time is relative yet we insist that clock measurements are an
accurate thing for scientific purposes. Why? It's practical.

But the problem is when people lose sight that, "Just because
it's practical, doesn't mean it's TRUE". Scientism is on the
rise and while it's not horrible in and of itself, the
expressions of scientism via people who believe they are
rationalists has become somewhat of a scary social force.

Errors in history. Errors in Fact. Critical thinking destroyed,
replaced by a chart of fallacies and an attitude of, "I am
correct because you are refuted" ridiculousness, as if it's at
all possible to contain the answers within a single statement or
discussion and as if it's possible to view something from one
perspective only and consider its results true for all people
  and all time.

Cult of Reason. Cult of Scientism. Dangerous combination when
  seen together.
