Look at the power of a movie for example - let's see.. the
Matrix is a good one. How many people have you known - and maybe
you've done it yourself (I have!) - used the Matrix as a basis
to illustrate life as it is or could be, and then get so caught
up in it that we forget to come down to this planet and see
  things as they are?

So easy to do. Power of fiction. Stories layer on top of the
stories we see and tell ourselves about reality and they get
mixed up, intertwined, indistinguishable from each other and
hard to detangle. I find it's a constant and fastinating
struggle to detangle, especially my own assumptions about the
nature of things. Just when I think I've 'got it' I 'see' the
analogy I was basing it upon, which takes the nice floor away
and I have to start again. But I love it, because it allows for
  better analogies to form.
