^I'm not a diabetic but I'm always on the lookout for easy ways
  to figure out proper portions. I grew up with the "four food
  groups". I'm trying to understand the mypyramid but now I see
  the "plate method" which is extremely simple. 1/2 plate with
  non-starchy vegs, 1/4 plate with meat/protein 1/4 plate with
  starchy vegs/pasta/rice. Add piece of fruit and a 8 oz glass of
