All the OTHER elections are more or less democratic. The PREZ
  however is not and never was. It's designed to protect the
  process against popular people taking it over. === isn't wrong
  here. The DNC and the GOP have the right and ability to decide
  who we can choose from. GENERALLY, they match up. What the
  people want in the primaries, generally becomes who they stick
  in there. But not always. I've been through a number of election
  cycles (I'm 44) and I've watched some REAL surprises show up on
  the ticket in July. It's a masterful illusion. I don't think
  it's _quite_ as illuminati as you say Kiler, but it's much
  closer to that than it is a 'purely democratic process'. Doesn't
  bother me though. Checks n Balances makes sure nothing REALLY
  ever gets accomplished, 'cept for war of course. We like war
  being merika and all
