I believe any correspondence of our maps to objective reality is
  a very nice thing when it seems to occur, and it is practical to
  believe "as if" our maps correspond to reality.

  However, I do not believe it is possible for humans to have a
  truly objective view of reality as-it-is as we are necessarily
  limited by our perspectives as tiny humans in a big Universe.

  The patterns we discover aren't wrong, but they aren't
  completely correct either. They're simplifications; a concession
  necessary for our limited capabilities.

  that being said, on a PRAGMATIC level, we MUST in some ways
  "assume" that certain things are objectively true. We must act
  "as if" they are objectively true, because it allows us to
  believe we are propelling forward on a firm foundation.

  Even for me to say, "our maps don't correspond to reality" is
  _also_ a lie, because I am not in an objective position to say
  such a thing with complete honesty.

  So, pragmatically, we gotta work with what we got.
