Lots of reasons for banning. But mostly because we play with our

joijaw I'm kinda glad for Monsanto. They feed lots of people.
it'd just be nice if they weren't so darned BIG; it'd be nice if
they had some decent competition in the marketplace. Oh it is.
Same with McDonald's for Fast Food and such. Thing is,
corporations are designed to make profit. They're not earth
do-gooders and the only way to combat perceived issues with
corporate entities is lawsuit or grassroots abstaining
campaigns.
So to me, they're just doing what corporations do. It's hard to
shame non-people because nobody's responsible. Nobody's home
until they get woken up by a lawsuit or lowered profits. Yeah,
bromine has a strange uniquely american history.
It shows up in a lot of foods. If I remember right, it was one
of those "miracles of science" things that got stuck into
everything from the 19th century "yay science fixes everything"
crowd and that, mixed with a little PT Barnum snake oil
salesmanship, showed up everywhere.
It takes a while to lose that.. like losing mercury in tooth
filling. Old habits die hard.
