Attempts have been made; I don't know of successes. Then again,
through systems of taxation _some of this_ is true, especially
in areas of high taxation; taxes are automatic and take care of
basic needs.
But they still depend on individual contributions into the
system as far as I know.
For such a system to work, it would require income to be handled
solely by the State. Would its citizens be satisfied? That's
where it gets rough.
Small scale levels happen; intentional communities of various
kinds and such have done it; I use monasteries as a strong
example of this type of thing as they're the most well known of
the Epicurian friendship communities, which can include shared
"family style" expenses.
But on larger scales? I don't know. I'd like it to be possible,
if that counts for something.
