^Our imaginations rules our view of reality. We see what we want
to see in other people.
When someone is nice to us, or we have a perfect dream that we
are following, people or situations become perfect in our minds.
The past suddenly vanishes, even if the rest of the world can
see the obvious patterns of behavior that will lead to awful
things yet again, just as they did before.
When someone brushes us aside, is mean to us, or ignores our
pain, they become the epitome of Evil itself and we will do
equally irrational things to blot them or "the situation" out. A
single event begins to rule our every waking moment.
In both cases, our view of reality is blinded by our emotions.
Love is a dangerous thing. Hate is a dangerous thing. Both
Jealousy and the Search for Perfection are perhaps the most
dangerous of all. Handle your emotions with care. Otherwise you
may wake up one day with a cleared mind, look around you and
say, "How did I get here? What have I done?"
Handle your imaginations with care or your walk in the park
becomes a walk off a cliff. There is no Knight in Shining Armor
and there is no Wicked Witch of the West. There are people,
there are the stories they tell of themselves and there are the
stories we tell of them. Know the difference between the people,
their patterns, and the stories. There is a difference. You may
be loving a cardboard cutout or hating a balloon of hot air.^
