Very few shows are of that caliber. I'd say that The Adventures
  of Pete + Pete in the 90's (filmed in Cranford NJ) came the
  closest. In today's time, I think Phineas + Ferb come closest in
  the Cartoon world... although Phineas + Ferb are a bit "last
  year" now. Shows for kids that treat them as intelligent human
  beings are shows that adults can watch with their
  kids/nieces/nephews. "
