You see it too!! Take a good look at the eye - you can actually
  see the patterns in the eye, something I have NEVER been able to
  capture in myself or in anybody else. The way the shadow crosses
  his face - the background falling away, I was pretty amazed with
  this one. So was he: He took about 5 self-pics, each very
  similar. He looked at each after he took them, and it was only
  this one where he said, "This one. This one is good.", and then
  he went off and took some extreme closeups of tree bark, pine
  needles and other subjects of photographic study. "
