We're surrounded by farms. They supply all the tomatoes and
potatoes for McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, etc. Gargullio is
one of the larger ones and we had a huge contract with them to
trap raccoons there for a year 'til they decided to do it
themselves. Anyway, _somebody_ has to grow the food we eat.
Myself though? My jobs have _mostly_ been white collar. I've
always worked in computers. I was a systems analyst (II) for a
pharmaceutical company for a few years. But I never finished
college. I just "breath computer", so I can do anything someone
wants me to do on it. Living here in the woods is my "let's try
something unexpected" bit. 14 years so far. I get to work from
home and run a business. My brother and sister-in-law do most of
the work now for it and i just make sure things run smoothly in
the background. So, I'm still doing a "white job". I *did* do
carpet cleaning once for a bit, and as a teenager, I was the
custodian for my local church (which was 7 days a week 'cause it
had a nursery school) - 5 years I did it before doing a little
college. and I've ripped insulation out of hurricane destroyed
homes for two months. That was rough: the glass gets everywhere
in you and there was no electricity. It was supposed to pay well
but we got ripped off of course. Still though, much prefer being
behind this here computer - or any computer.
