They can make friends that last long after the campaigns are
  over with. Join communities of like-minded folk.Lots of stuff
  having nothing to do with their purpose but rather the
  side-effects of people having a common purpose together. I
  rarely felt that about something, so when someone does I think
  it's great for them.
