He's an entertainer. I used to cringe at his "Bill Nye the
  Science Guy" shows on PBS when I'd watch them with my nieces. I
  remember thinking, "omg he's got that SO FREAKING WRONG" more
  times than I wanted to talk about, especially his
  simplifications about light and sound.... they were cringe
  worthy. Then again, I was lucky. I grew up with Mr. Wizard. He
  was freakin' amazing. He stuck forks in an electric socket to
  cook a hotdog. I remember grabbing my crotch as a kid watching
  that hotdog get cooked and gained a HUGE respect for electricity
  at that moment.
