I don't think it's impossible for a computer to be conscious.
  Perhaps they are already and they can't communicate with us and
  we're mistaking our inability to see each other's
  consciousnesses as a kind of reverse proof as to why computers
  aren't conscious - because we CAN see theirs.  In any case,
  we're fumbling ahead thinking it'll be magically created when
  certain criteria are met. But what is it we're looking for for
  proof? Is it the mystery? Coming up with answers itself that we
  can't trace? Seems there has to be more to it than that.
