I don't believe evolutionary psychology to be valid as anything
but a sad excuse for poor behavior. == They're plausible fables.
Much of it is based on anthropology studies of the 19th and
early 20th century, when ppl still believed in the myth of the
"noble savage" when they studied cultures in "far off Africa" or
whatever. Up until the 70s, psychology was psychology and
biology biology and evolution evolution and anthropology
anthropology. But some dude squished a few of them together into
a pop psychology attempting to explain EVERYTHING by evolution,
even our day-to-day activities. It's become used socially as
excuses for bad behavior. == It's the source of the whole "alpha
male" / "beta male" BS that ppl seem to think is meaningful
somehow. It's just a personality sorting tool, like the
myers-briggs personality index. Fun but science? Not really. ==
