There's an (in)famous Psalm about this. People who were never
  Christian (or Jewish I suppose) before or never understood it if
  they were, misinterpret it all of the time. It's EXACTLY about
  this: "9Blessed shall he be who shall seize and dash thine
  infants against the rock." and variations of it. From the
  earliest readings of it, "the infants" or "the children" being
  dashed against the rock refers to killing wicked thoughts just
  as they emerge. Not bad for 2500 yr old psychology.
