I liked some big band stuff as a kid of the 80s. I think due to
Xanadu. My 10.5 yr old nephew has loved elevator music since he
was at least 6, although mostly likes whatever the youtube
biggies write for video games, like the Fnaf series (The Living
Tombstone is a favorite of his now). I didn't introduce him to
elevator music either - he found something on youtube and liked
it and occasionally will share something with me that's
elevator-y. Anyway, is it a dead genre forever? I don't think
so. The wah-wah trumpet is DEFINITELY not dead... and this works
GREAT as a comedy bit. As far as sentimental goes? All you have
to do is enjoy the Wizard of Oz as a kid and you'll have a
sentimental spot for cheesy violin sentimental music for a
lifetime.
