While personally, I don't believe there's a collective
unconsciousness per se, there's still a lot of unknowns that we
don't know because our approach excludes investigation or the
field being used does not have room for such ideas, whereas
another field might have room for it. [physics can't explain
everything, neither can statistics. They're good at what they're
good for, but not everything is a nail] Some human abilities are
poorly understood at present. This doesn't mean they're
mysterious - we have some answers - but there's a lot that's not
yet fully fleshed out. Blindsight is something that has several
competing hypothesis for example, but is poorly understood at
present. It happens, it works. People have different abilities
in that way. How does it work? Jury is out on it. Three major
theories, other minor ones as well. I have a strong blindsight
likely due to being born with no central vision in my right eye,
and very poor vision in my left "good" eye. My brain formed
without the ability to see 3D directly *apparently*, although I
can 'see it' mentally. One specialist determined through some
testing that my brain didn't form "3D cells" (I can explain the
test and tell the story) - but I think it was a inhibition to
make overlapping images based on amygdala push -- a "don't let
images overlap or something bad might happen" automatic response
that I could control with training but he advised against it,
and I took his advice. Or maybe it was purely developmental.
Anyway, doesn't matter whether it's in the eye, the control
mechanism, the fear factor or lack of receptors - in the end, I
don't see 3D but instead have a kind of "cyclops" vision with a
weak right part that's purely peripheral. Now an easy answer you
hear is, "Poor sensory input in one area makes others stronger",
but that's not exactly true. It's use and practice - skill -
that makes the other areas stronger. One of the stronger senses
I have is blindsight. I know where things are around me and how
far away they are and can react to them. Eyes closed, pitch
black room, throw a ball at me, I'll catch it with the same
frequency I'd catch the ball with my eyes open in a lit room.
The explanations why they gave me are weak. I suspect it might
have something to do with the "blue light" sensor - the one that
wakes us up that blind people generally have intact. In any
case, my point is: it's possible there ARE connections between
people that are poorly understood and are not statistical
randomness but could have alternative explanations that better
describe the phenomenon than just "chance". Chance and
statistics are weaker arguments than going through "what's known
and not yet known". I have some ideas on how psychics do their
thing for example. Most of them are trickery of course but they
sometimes hit the mark quite well. Is it an astral realm? I
don't believe so. But I believe there's abilities that are
  poorly explained at present.
