I guess I got used to it early. I started watching it when I was
  8 yrs old with my grandmother, saw all the classic episodes, saw
  the series die in 1989. Got hopeful when the movie came out in
  1996, and was blown away when it was revived in 2005. So it's
  kind of a lifetime character for me. But if it was any _other_
  show, I'd find it equally annoying. I 'get' how it works kinda
  deeply 'cause I've been with it most of my life - but yeah, if
  it was another show that I wasn't invested in for so long, I'd
  agree with you entirely smile emoticon
