That's kinda what I figured. My mother was married to an
  egyptian for a couple of years in the 80s and they have a
  tradition of using a sugar mixture to remove all body hair
  except the head, starting at puberty - 'cause sand. == I was
  going through puberty myself at the time and, intrigued, I
  decided to get rid of the beginnings of chest hair using a
  strange bottle of Nair I found under the bathroom sink. Well, I
  didn't follow instructions. I rubbed it into my wisps of chest
  hair, quite vigorously because it wasn't instant. RAW and sore
  for a week after that. Never did THAT again. == lol it's ok. It
  was not only a lesson learned but I came away with a
  word-of-warning story to tell, which I did smile emoticon
