If you get the time, it would be truly awesome. I've been
collecting my writings from across the 'net but there's a LOT of
BBS gaps so this will definitely help me on my project. And
getting Brett on FB would be a fantastic thing. Been so long! ==
Even if you stuck the whole thing up on a dropbox, DOSEmu or
something could run it and they'd be retrievable by logging in,
exporting to QWK then converting the QWK to text.. lots of ways
to go about it... well it's time consuming but you got me
excited at the idea if nothing else smile emoticon == Well if
you can get it that far (old tech is pain to get on new PCs... I
have an older HD that I just _can't_ seem to get going via the
USB enclosure box I have. One worked.. the other just.. didn't
want to bother doing anything....) if you get to that point, get
it up and running... you could probably create a test acct
subscribing to all, download all msg packets locally. That way
the security you had set up on the system initially will be
intact. of course it'd have to be a password protected online
site because these have conversations that were never expected
to see the light beyond the BBS. That'd be the simplest way. But
  anyway, it's a big project. I have a similar dilemma: I ran a
Minecraft server for 2 yrs - started killing this laptop's hd.
Meanwhile, there's thousands and thousands of creations of
people frozen on here. I promised I'd never lose them but how do
I get it to them? it's like surgery Might not be able to keep my
promise but it's in my head to try. Of course I have it easier
in a way: I _could_ just turn it on, make a big announcement to
"come on in!" and set up some scripts so they can download the
schematics of their creations... but I dunno. A pain no matter
what way I do it, so I put it on the back burner. If I hear any
  leads, I'll pass them on.
