helps. On another note, here is a good example of *not* ageism
in action. The reporter went about this the right way. He showed
support for the boy's cause by joining it in his own way. The
reporter can't go to school and fight it in that arena, but he
*can* be supportive in his role, as reporter and as a human
being.
Dress code is a valid youth rights issue, even if it seems
absurd in this case. it proves a point and I'm proud of the way
the reporter handled the situation. You could say, "Oh, he was
just doing it to be cute". But think of the effect on the boy?
The reporter isn't just "another adult in a suit and tie" but
saying, "I hear ya, and I'm listening and I'm not judging".
That's more significant than it might at first appear.
