I'm weird. I don't mind reading legalese OR standards
documentation *if* it's something of interest to me. It paints a
picture in my head. But I also enjoy the pictures painted by
poetry and ambiguity. The misleading speak of
advertising/marketing fascinates me because it's an interpretive
challenge to me and also because their ability to lead/mislead,
as with politicians alike, both impresses and repulses me in
their success at the task. I look for the "gotchas" in both
cases. Standards with extensive glossaries that I'm yet
unfamiliar with reads like the poetry of a strange subspecies of
human and gains clarity upon access to the rosetta stone. In a
business environment however, I expect clarity from my superiors
and never hesitated to ask questions until I was satisfied. I
like ambiguity unless it involves a task I have to perform and
if my superior prefers me to mindread through their
vaguesnesses, they're out of luck because I will demand
clarification in one way or another. But I've always performed
best in the crossroads between engineering and marketing.
Strange crossroads. I was a systems analyst for a few years.
