Rap didn't kill MTV. White music getting shitty killed MTV. By
the time white music began to recover, MTV had moved on to
cartoons, reality shows, game shows and stuff; they'd moved the
videos to VH1 or MTV2 for a bit, but it was too late. Besides,
the Internet was growing and even though Youtube wasn't 'there'
yet, people shared music via ftp sites and then napster and then
finally someone invented Youtube, which was the best thing for
music videos since MTV. === What's good about music is difficult
to measure. You've got popularity, quality, all sorts of
metrics. Tastes change over time. Most people are stuck in the
music they liked when they were 13-15 yrs old and never grow
past it. People who judge music can't do that. As the industry
changes, as tastes change, so do the metrics used AND, its
likely, if you're personally only liking the music that
resembles the music you grew up with, you won't like the awards
shows. Also, this post is Agenda based, Michael. Doesn't take a
rocket scientist to figure that out. == Still weighing it out.
Haven't decided yet* but equating the admin of a forum on the
Internet to a Nazi? Hm. Still, I'll keep an open mind that
you're not self-assigning victim status. == Ok. Good.
Background. That's useful. Well, this question hasn't been
deleted - it's still here if you'll notice. Maybe add a little
background paragraph to give it relevance to those of us who
don't watch TV and aren't as engaged in these issues as you. I
know Alan Rickman died today, but my facebook said nothing about
the thing you're talking about. Don't forget: Facebook
customizes our feeds and what we see. Since I never talk about
Affirmative action or racial issues OR awards shows, it showed
  me nothing about it. ==
