  nails it though: "If you wanted to invent a system that would
  literally drive you insane, that's the kind of system you'd come
  up with". Yeah, in all these years, I never stopped thinking
  that. Started around the age of 8 when I started to see the
  cracks and by 12-14, I was writing letters to the editor about
  it, reading books about Summerhill, "Unschooling" and stuff, by
  18, I started a children's rights list on the early internet
  (1990-1995) which got pretty big... it started a few children's
  rights groups of various kinds (they met on my list and formed
  focuses on the issues that mattered to them). I did my little
  part of history. NYRA is one of the groups. Another is TCS, one
  for parenting style.... I can think of a few others. Always
  wanted one with more of a school-fairness focus but the ones
  I've seen were overly optimistic and unrealistic. I keep hoping.
