In the maths, he could be a genius or a crackpot genius. But I
  would read it for the same reason as aaa f I was so inclined:
  I'd use it as a source for possible analogies, for even of the
  math turns out to be fs 's conclusion that he is making it up as
  he goes along (which unfortunately is the direction I'm tending
  to think as well), nevertheless, it can be a rich source for
  metaphor and analogy in other fields. That's what's nice about
  metaphors/analogies: They're not perfectly equivalent, so the
  source material is quite rich.
