I don't know if we can though. We take our cultural narratives
  with us and they'd come with us into the new world. Even the
  idea of starting from scratch is part of our cultural narrative
  - this idea of a reboot, or a Utopian vision that we can do
  better than this. Maybe you're right though. Still, I'd prefer
  diplomacy. I think we do a lot of things right as a species and
  we amplify the things that are wrong so they seem worse than
  they are. But that could be naivity on my part as well.
